Enhancing nutrition, food security, and sustainable livelihoods for resilient communities across Uganda.
Malnutrition and food insecurity remain critical challenges in Uganda. We are working to change that.
Our Community Health and Food Security program tackles the root causes of hunger and poor health. We promote sustainable agriculture, improve nutrition education, strengthen healthcare access, and build resilient livelihoods. By working with communities, we create lasting solutions that address food insecurity and improve overall well-being.
We take a holistic approach to community health and food security.
We provide nutrition education to mothers, caregivers, and communities, promoting balanced diets, maternal and child health, and prevention of malnutrition. We also support community health workers to deliver essential health services.
We train farmers in climate‑smart agriculture, agroecology, and value‑addition to increase productivity, improve food security, and reduce environmental degradation. We promote crop diversification, irrigation, and soil conservation.
We strengthen local food systems by improving post‑harvest handling, storage, and market linkages. We support farmers to access fair markets and build resilient food supply chains.
We partner with health facilities to improve access to quality healthcare, especially for women and children. We support immunization, maternal health, disease prevention, and clean water and sanitation initiatives.
We support community members to diversify their incomes through vocational training, savings groups, and enterprise development. This reduces vulnerability and builds long‑term resilience.

Understanding the scale of food insecurity and health challenges we are working to address.
Over 30% of Ugandan households experience food insecurity, with chronic malnutrition affecting 29% of children under five.
80% of Uganda's food is produced by smallholder farmers who face challenges of climate change, limited inputs, and poor market access.
Many rural communities lack access to quality healthcare, clean water, and sanitation – leading to preventable diseases and high child mortality.
Erratic rains, droughts, and floods threaten agricultural livelihoods, making communities more vulnerable to food and health crises.
Your support helps families access nutritious food, clean water, and healthcare. Together, we can build healthier, more food‑secure communities.
