Promoting renewable energy, biodiversity conservation, climate adaptation, and sustainable technologies for a resilient Uganda.
Uganda's rich natural heritage is under threat from deforestation, climate change, and unsustainable practices. We are committed to reversing these trends.
Our environment program focuses on three interconnected areas: renewable energy access, biodiversity conservation, and climate adaptation. We work with communities to adopt sustainable practices that protect natural resources while improving livelihoods. From solar installations to reforestation, our interventions are designed to be community-led, scalable, and impactful.
We address Uganda's environmental challenges through these strategic pillars.
We deploy solar energy systems, biogas digesters, and energy-efficient cookstoves in off-grid communities, reducing dependence on firewood and improving health outcomes.
We promote tree planting, forest protection, and sustainable land-use practices to restore degraded ecosystems, protect water sources, and enhance biodiversity.
We help communities build resilience to climate change through early warning systems, climate-smart agriculture, and disaster risk reduction strategies.
We introduce and promote appropriate technologies – from water harvesting to waste management – that are affordable, locally maintainable, and environmentally friendly.
Guided by Uganda's National Environment Management Policy and climate commitments.
Install solar systems in 50 off-grid communities and train local technicians to maintain them, reaching at least 10,000 households by 2027.
Plant 500,000 trees across Kiryandongo, Gulu, and Wakiso districts, working with schools, community groups, and local governments.
Implement catchment protection and water harvesting initiatives to ensure clean water availability for communities and agriculture.
Train 5,000 farmers in conservation agriculture, agroforestry, and drought-resistant cropping systems to enhance food security and reduce environmental degradation.
Distribute 2,000 energy-efficient cookstoves and promote sustainable woodlot management to reduce pressure on natural forests.
Train community-based environmental monitors and establish village-level committees to oversee natural resource management and compliance.
Uganda's environment is the foundation of our economy and well-being. Protecting it is essential for a sustainable future.
Uganda is home to over 18,000 species of flora and fauna. Protecting this biodiversity is vital for ecosystem health and tourism.
Uganda is highly vulnerable to climate change impacts – erratic rains, droughts, and floods threaten food security and livelihoods.
Uganda loses an estimated 90,000 hectares of forest annually. Reforestation and sustainable woodfuel use are urgent priorities.
Only 15% of rural Ugandans have access to electricity. Renewable energy solutions are critical for development and poverty reduction.
Help us protect Uganda's environment, expand renewable energy access, and build climate resilience. Every contribution makes a difference.
